Hope everyone had a beautiful Thanksgiving! All donations no matter what the amount are welcome. Even a $5 donation makes a huge impact because that allows us to donate one new blanket to someone in need. The template is still the same as it was when we created Blankets of Hope. 100% of all monetary donations go directly to purchasing and donating blankets and beds to those in need in our community.

What are you thankful for? I am personally thankful for our amazing community!

When local businesses and nonprofits work together for the same common goal in helping others, especially children, incredible things can and will happen. Today's announcement of the partnership between Fecera's Furniture & Mattress, Olivet Boys & Girls Club and Blankets of Hope-Berks is something that warms my heart knowing that our collaboration will hopefully bring awareness to the issue about the many children who do not have their own bed with the hopes of actually getting them that new bed they so deserve.

Thank you Jason Hugg of Berks Weekly!

Thank you Jim Vasil of WFMZ!

Tonight I stopped for dinner and afterwards I picked up an Awesome Toy Drive ornament. Last year Freddy X Vasquez was able to get 150 toys that were then donated to Concern in Fleetwood. Blankets of Hope-Berks also donated 150 blankets.

This year the Awesome Toy Drive is trying to get 500 toys donated so 500 children can have a gift this holiday season. The toys are being distributed to four organizations: CONCERN - Professional Services for Children, Youth, and Families, Bethany Children's Home, Olivet Boys & Girls Club and The Children's Home of Reading.

Blankets of Hope will be donating a plush new blanket for every toy that is donated to this Awesome Toy Drive.

Please check out the link below to find out what businesses are participating so you can go pick up an ornament to help a child receive a toy this holiday season.

Blankets of Hope is pleased to be a part of this year's People First event! We deeply appreciate the commitment of the folks at Queen City Family Restaurant, Immanuel UCC (Shillington), Berks Coalition to End Homelessness, Inc. and Helping Harvest to making this year's People First event possible.

Like many events, People First will be different this year. Instead of a sit down meal, volunteers and staff will be giving out bagged lunches at a number of agencies across the city of Reading.

Few things to share🙂...Sorry for the length of this post😎
1---Over the last couple weeks I have received several emails from Leanne Eckenrode Roberts and a few other social workers from the Reading School District. Before the pandemic, Blankets of Hope-Berks had allocated the school district 12 beds. They were reaching out to me because they were now in need of those beds. Two of which have recently been delivered to a family. Tonight, I will be ordering another 20 beds for them plus 10 beds for the Life House.

2---This morning I met with Alec M. Reinert, Chris Fecera and in spirit, Christopher M Winters. We were discussing how we can see that children throughout our county who don't have beds can possibly get one when the need arises. We should be sharing an announcement soon enough when we finalize the details.

3---We have been donating blankets and beds for almost 9 years. Majority of the time the BOH board members and I do not get to see the reactions of those receiving blankets and beds. Today while we were in our meeting, Chris Fecera shared what his delivery people experience when delivering the beds to these families. He shared that they really enjoy delivering these beds and seeing the instantaneous smiles and joy that come from the families but especially from the children when they are told that this is THEIR brand new bed.

Most of us take for granted that we get to sleep in our own beds. Imagine the morale that a child is now given when receiving a brand new bed of their own and now they are not sleeping on a floor, chair or sofa that most likely they're sharing with a sibling.

Bed set includes a twin mattress, box spring, mattress pad, twin sheets, pillow & pillow case and two size blankets. Our cost $165! Not only do we have a great cost for this needed product, we are also fortunate that for Fecera's Furniture warehouses the beds and when needed, deliver free of charge to the family receiving them.

Every person deserves a good night's rest...especially a child!
